Q1. How did your career journey start? Or Who/What inspired you to start this business/ entrepreneurship?

My mother has always been my biggest role model since childhood. Even though belonging from a typical Indian middle class family my mother had taught me to be independent. After I entered junior college I decided to support my family and fulfill my dreams. As much as I loved studying, my real talent and passion lay somewhere else. Beauty! 30 years ago where it wasn't an easy task for women to start a business on their own, with my family's support, I entered into the world of Beauty. And I believe it was the best decision of my life!

Q2. Kindly share some information about your Business, products and services here. Also mention your USP if any.

I am a professional makeup artist and hairstylist with experience of more than 25 years. I do bridal and siders makeover and hairstyle for all occasions like haldi, sangeet, engagements, wedding, baby showers, parties, wedding photoshoots as well as model photoshoots. I use International Brand products and high quality hair styling machines. I travel all over the country for my business.

Apart from this my other special forte lies in teaching. I take personal as well as group classes for professional make up and hairstyle, saree draping, and self grooming.

Q3. What kind of challenges did you face while starting/doing business?

While starting my business, I had a whole lot of responsibility as I was the only earning member in my family. I had to support my family as well as save enough for myself to accomplish the aspirations that I had set for myself.

Apart from this, it was very difficult to manage work and daily household chores. Since my mother was bedridden for 10 years so I had to manage my business, play my role as a daughter and manage household duties as well.

I took a break from work after my marriage and finally after 5 years I decided to resume and follow my passion. The most challenging part was to dedicate more time to work to establish myself again, and at the same time take care of my little babies, who were just 2 and 4 years old then.

Q4. Do share with our readers about your discovery period when you were facing difficulties in your business?

One thing that I learnt was to keep exploring, reaching out to people, and not being hesitant to ask out for help. The more I spoke to like minded people, I learnt more and more about this field. Gradually I also took up training for hairstyles to learn new international looks and stay updated. Just like we keep ourselves updated with the latest technology, similarly we also need to continue learning to keep growing in the business.

Though managing work and family together was a tough job, I decided not to set limits and boundaries for myself and just kept moving forward.

Q5. Share with our readers about your experiment period after the discovery period?

After having planned everything, it was time to step out and take action. I first had to reach out to more people, so I first targeted online and offline marketing. Once that was done, then there was no stopping. I continued working with passion and eventually I was flooded with clients. I started exploring new styles, new products, new trends  and expanding my business. And then it was just going with the flow, and following my dreams.

Q6. What are your future plans? Or now what is your vision for next five years?

I believe an entrepreneur always responds to changes and uses it as an opportunity to grow. Similarly, my goal is to adapt to the constantly changing demands of my clients and expand my business to a larger scale. My other vision for the coming years is to start an academy where I can pursue my passion for teaching and beauty both together and give a platform to the new talent.

Q7. How would you advise/suggest new entrepreneurs who want to start & sustain in business?

My main advice to the new entrepreneurs would be that NEVER compromise when it comes to customer service and do not be frightened of taking risks. Remain perseverant in what you do and you'll reach heights. Also, a
lways be grateful in life, and things will definitely work out!
