Q1. How and when did you start your Entrepreneur Journey to serve into Wedding industry? What did inspire you to start your own business?

I am a Hotel Management graduate from Ahmedabad and was a General Manager of Thanes Oldest privately owned Club. There I got a chance to meet the cream crowd of Thane and found out that there was a need for a Banquet Hall for wedding Functions. My wife and I then ventured into RG Banquet which was started in 2013.

Q2. Kindly describe more about your business, your role, products/services.

RG Banquet Hall is a very user friendly and customizable property for Corporate Meets, personal celebrations, launch Events, Wedding, Reception, Birthday Parties and more.

My role here is to do Marketing of the Banquet hall, Sell as per the requirement of the client and make sure during function, things run smoothly as planned. We have professional Catering as well as Decoration services.

Q3. Please share about unique feature/specialty/USP of your Product/Service.

Our Hall's USP is that it’s the only banquet Hall situated on the 2nd floor with a children play area and 8000 square feet of open space for serving Food. We offer 5 star food & premium decoration services in budgeted pricing. Our venue is centrally located in Thane city, it is attached to Eastern Express Highway and has a 100 car parking space in the basement.

Q4. How would you explain the importance of your role into a Wedding?

Everyone who comes to book a wedding, wants the best for their daughter or Son. We here in RG are pivotal in guiding them as per their budget and recommending them the best. Right from which Priest to choose, which decoration and food to select to which photographer will be the best, we give them the best guidance.

Q5. What are the most common challenges you face at the wedding you are handling?

Most common challenge we face is the timing. Sometimes clients don’t realise how time goes by and it becomes very difficult for us to get the hall ready for the next function, especially when we have different morning wedding and different evening reception. Sometimes the bride is not ready on time.
Sometimes the photographers don’t allow the couple to have their meal on time and keep taking pictures which in turn delays the whole function.

Q6. How do you deal with these challenges?

While doing the final draft of the wedding plan, we run down the timings of all small events with the client and appoint a person from their side to monitor the timing. We have a walky talky between our event teams and nudge the client time and time again and get them on track with the timing which they have already agreed upon.

Q7. Could you share one of your most unique creation/experience for/of a wedding?

One of our clients had arranged Mehendi, Haldi, Sangeet and Wedding in RG banquet Hall. He had said that in these 4 days, we want the best of the best which you can offer. Around 2000 people attended this function in these 4 days and we were proud to say that the function was exceptionally successful without any hic-ups and our client personally came and thanked each and every service staff and tipped them off handsomely.

Q8. What type of collaborations would you like to explore in future?

I would like to collaborate with Jewellers, honeymoon planners, Beauticians, Wedding Planners.

Q9. What is your vision for next five years?

To run 3 more Banquet Hall and a Multi Cuisine Restaurant in Thane.

Q10. What would you advise new entrepreneurs who want to start & sustain in the business?

I would advise the new startups to thread water carefully. Do a Market survey of a place you are planning to set-up and have 6 months of contingency funds available to survive in their business. Again factor that shortfall in business would last a little longer than you expect and have your expenses lined up as per your business strategy.

Don’t be a master of all and try to do everything on your own, but hire good people who are good in their field to bolster your business in the right direction.
