Q1. How did your career journey start? Or Who/What inspired you to start this business/ entrepreneurship?

It all started with a high school job and my dad, who motivated me to do something totally different and new for that time. Instead of making my presentation in large sheets of paper, like everyone else, I made a video because my dad had a camera recorder and a VCR - A videocassette recorder (one of the first ones in Mexico) that he used to work. Everyone was surprised when I got to the classroom with that and a huge television, the teacher even threatened to fail me but in the end everyone was happily surprised and that was the moment when my passion for capturing everything on video began.

Q2. Kindly share some information about your Business, products and services here. Also mention your USP if any.

We have a Professional Cinematography & Photography Studio based in Cancun, Mexico since 1995. We have worked with couples and clients from around the world to capture priceless moments and turn them into eternal memories for more than 9000 weddings and special events (social and corporate as well). In these almost 26 years, I have created sister companies and four brands that complement each other to provide full coverage and the best quality in photo and video for all styles, sizes and budgets’ events.

Due to our location in the paradisiacal Cancun, which is also one of the most desired wedding destinations, our USP is the combo of both services, Photo & Video. Our service packages can be fully customized according to the needs of our clients and they can add a lot of services from Drone to Same Day Edit video. It’s all about their vision of the event.

Q3. What kind of challenges did you face while starting/doing business?

I have more than 35 years of experience in making videos, but 26 years ago I was lucky to be contacted by a friend and wedding coordinator who had a couple getting married and wanted to record the magical moment. At that time it was not common, so without knowing it I became one of the pioneers of the romance industry here. The most difficult thing is to buy all the professional equipment that is needed to do a quality job, you must have several cameras, lenses and many other things, that was a great challenge: the initial investment. You must also have equipment for edition and of course, as the business grows, you must have reliable and trained professionals, a physical place and from time to time, you must invest in education, replacement of equipment and new toys on the market.

Q4. Do share with our readers about your discovery period when you were facing difficulties in your business?

I focused on several aspects, first, developing my own style, my personal brand, after all, you are going to create a product with personality, then, found the differentiating point with my competition. This involves time, research and also a lot of trial and error, feedback and understanding about what the client wants. Doing all this was not easy and it was not done overnight, but was worth it.

Q5. Share with our readers about your experiment period after the discovery period?

For me, it was very important to develop an operating manual (from protocols and uniform to code of conduct) and also feature my work. In Photography and Video / Cinematography business, you sell your product , thanks to the work you have done in the past (that’s your portfolio) and the experience that the client had by working with you. The reputation is built on that, that is why I also have always endeavored to give the best service possible (from clarifying doubts to achieving great videos and photos).

Q6. What are your future plans? Or now what is your vision for the next five years?

Capture love stories and unforgettable experiences to create meaningful, creative and visually stunning videos and photos is my passion, so I hope to continue witnessing many more unions, and as always, to stay at the front. I will continue to invest in equipment, growing and training my staff and providing them with the best tools that the market can offer to create products that make our clients treasure it and use it to relive those emotions over and over again.

Q7. How would you advise/suggest new entrepreneurs who want to start & sustain in business?

The first thing you should do is find something that you are passionate about and draw up a short, medium and long-term plan with achievable goals. Evaluate all the scenarios and do not lose focus, remember that motivation must come from within yourself and that obstacles always appear, but to achieve success you must be consistent, persevering and work hard every day.

Surround yourself with people who bring good things to your life and/or business and include finances from the beginning of the plan, your business needs to be profitable within a reasonable period of time, make smart investments (that includes any expenses, from marketing to salaries) that will guide you to have a healthy business and will make you happy.
