Q1. How and when did you start your Entrepreneur Journey to serve into Wedding industry? What did inspire you to start your own business?

So I began my entrepreneurial journey into the wedding industry approximately 8 years back. I am already in the profession of Astrology, Tarot, Vastu, Occult sciences. Whenever I would meet any family they would ask me, "Sonal Ji, would you have some suitable Rishtas for my child?" And that’s how this journey began.
Q2. Kindly describe more about your business, your role, products/services.

So my business is very clear and simple, I have two running modules - one is Sonal Jain Matrimonial Services which is called SJMS Bespoke Matrimonials where we are into high end niche matrimonial alliances for the Creme de la Creme of the society. The second vertical that I run is, this is an online matrimonial service platform, and we cater to the masses. SJMS is for a very niche crowd, its bespoke, its discreet, whereas ApniJodi is primarily for the masses. We offer matrimonial alliances for both the verticals, we identify the right match, we organize meetings, we facilitate the meetings, and we kind of conclude the matches.

Q3. Please share about unique feature/specialty/USP of your Product/Service.

The USP about my service is that each and every family & child I have met personally, or interacted with. I understand their lifestyle, I understand the particular requirements of the family, the biodata details are not shared without the family’s permission. Everything is done very very discreetly.

Q4. How would you explain the importance of your role into a Wedding?

Well I am the Sutradhar! I am the coordinator between the couple, between the families, without me & our services the families wouldn’t have met, kind of this wedding would not have taken place you know,  if the formal introductions were not done by me and my company.

Q5. What are the most common challenges you face at the wedding you are handling?

So the challenges that we face while making an alliance is getting the right kind of a match, getting the right alliance, whether it’s in the form of eating habits, location, standard of living, a lifestyle, education etc.

Q6. How do you deal with these challenges?

We have to then ask the child and the family to identify and prioritize what is most important for them in the ideal match. Once these pointers are clear then the journey gets very easy. Suppose the daughter is the only child and she wants to be closer to home to her parents, then we prioritize the city over any other parameters, like looks or education or family status etc.

Q7. Could you share one of your most unique creation/experience for/of a wedding?

So one of the most unique weddings we did was for a Maharashtrian boy with a Marwari girl. The boy is based out of Dubai and South Africa & the girl was based out of Delhi. Location was a challenge, Community was a challenge, Education was a challenge but this couple clicked. Initially there were a lot of challenges where there was a lot of disparity between the financial status also of the family, but we kind of overcame all of it and this wedding did go through and touchwood they are still happily married and well settled.

Q8. What type of collaborations would you like to explore in future?

I would like to collaborate with people who have anything and everything to do with the wedding industry, from service providers to managers to event organizers to artists. Anything and everything we can register on our website and personalize all the services. Even good bankers, people connected with few Trade Associations, Community-based organizations, Non-Profit organizations - these kind of connects would be great.

Q9. What is your vision for next five years?

The vision for the next five years is obviously to grow multi folds. We are looking at a good minimum one lakh registrations per year on the portal and to target & accomplish, 50 weddings to be concluded for SJMS.

Q10. What would you advise new entrepreneurs who want to start & sustain in the business?

Well this business requires clarity, honesty & independent thinking. Each case is very different, You have to be very discreet, you have to be thorough with your knowledge, you have to be very disciplined & proactive. Your integrity is at stake, what you say you must deliver so if you keep all these things in mind you should be doing well in this industry.
